Sleep tracking helps when it reduces uncertainty. It becomes less helpful when every missing minute feels like a mistake. The goal is not a perfect log; it is a useful picture of your baby's usual rhythm.
Record the basics
A start time, an end time, where the sleep happened, and anything unusual are often enough. You do not need to record every movement or brief waking.
Think in ranges, not exact minutes
A baby's sleep can change from one day to the next. A rough range can help you plan, while expecting the same exact time every day may create unnecessary pressure.
Use the record to ask better questions
If your baby's sleep changes noticeably or you are worried, bring a short summary to your pediatrician. The record can help you explain what changed, but a tracking app cannot diagnose a sleep or health problem.
